Our company 1960: The family company Belakos is founded. The production consists of mats made of coconut fibre.
1969: The first tufting machine is introduced and the production of tufted, wall-to-wall carpet is started.
1969 - 1975: Over a period of time more sophisticated machines are developed that allow the production of patterns. Belakos uses an at that time very advanced machine with which an endless number of patterns can be made.
1976 - 1998: Carpet has become a article that is in demand. A new factory and office opposite to the old ones enables the elaboration of the number of machines and the increase of the production. Abroad the demand increases as well.
1998: At the border of the river Zwarte Water a new building with offices, warehouse and showroom is put into use.
1998 - 2002: The collection is upgraded. Many polypropylene qualities are replaced by polyamide carpets. There is also more attention for the difference between the consumer- and the contract-market.
2002: In the Netherlands Belakos has about 1.500 customers, including the retailers and the contract-market. About 40% of the production goes to these markets. The other part goes to 31 different countries among which England and Germany are the most important.
2005 - 2008: Belakos undergoes a true metamorphosis, internally as well as externally. The management is professionalized, office and warehouse move to a new modern building and the construction of a new, large factory is in progress.
2009: Belakos achieves the ISO9001:2008 certificate. All machines are moved to the new factory. A backing line is also installed.
Nowadays Belakos has a clear and firm market position in the Netherlands as well as abroad. The success of this market position is brought about by the clear market segmentation, the unique service, the effort and dedication of the family and the personnel. Apart from carpets Belakos also produces artificial grass for Greenfields.
